At Webeo, we’ve made it one of our core principles to give back. Each member of our team is encouraged to get involved with charitable initiatives to support people and organizations in need. Throughout the year we organize and take part in various charity events from our summer sports day to winter charity ball alongside our colleagues at Lead Forensics and Whizeo.
The aim? To raise awareness and as much money as possible – along with having a little fun of course!
On top of raising cash, each member of our team is given a 2 day allowance each year to participate in volunteering. We work alongside some fantastic charities (some local, others not so much!) and being able to help them physically goes a long way.
“We make it possible for our team to get involved in a range of charitable and volunteering activities, so they get the opportunity to make the world a better place.”
Kirsty Dawe, Webeo CEO
Across the group, the team completed approximately 200 volunteering days. Our holiday home in Hoburne Bashley saw a 20% increase in usage in 2023 – with all rental costs being filtered through to our charities as donations. We’re super proud of all the hard work and money our team has raised this year, so we’d like to thank everyone who took part in an event or volunteering day.
Here’s some of the charities we support:
Zambia’s Child
One of our longest ongoing charity partnerships is with Zambia’s Child. A charity a little further from home, that does fantastic work supporting the Ipalo Christian School in Zambia.
The school teaches children aged 5-17. But at Ipalo, it’s not just about the education. It’s about giving the children a safe place to go every day where they will be greeted with a drink, breakfast, and a cooked meal at lunch. They also have a welfare department and an onsite boarding house.
This year 6 members of the team went to Zambia, to learn more about the school and how as a business we can contribute.
The school prides itself on sustainability and the headmaster has created an environment where the families don’t rely on donations, they instead continue to work hard to become more sustainable, to build a better future for the school and its students.
Here’s some of the projects we helped during our trip this year:
- Gardening work – preparing the new season of crops
- Building maintenance – painting the grade 1 block
- Building work – Build a new concrete playground with games
- Taking supplies to the poorest families
On top of the hard work that went into the Zambia trip, the Group also hosted its annual charity ball which raised a huge total of £32,000. Plus sports day which raised nearly £2,000.
Here’s some of the local volunteering opportunities our team took part in
- Repainting and de-weeding the garden and The Rainbow Centre
- Litter picking at local beaches
- Collecting donations at local supermarkets for Sophie’s Legacy
- Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children
- Working in the charity shop for Julias House – Bournemouth
- Working in the charity shop for Naomis House – Portsmouth
- Working in the kitchen and serving food for Portsmouth lighthouse
- Operation Christmas shoe boxes for Samaritans
Again, we owe our team a huge thank you this year. If you’d like to work for an organization that prides itself on giving back, please get in contact.
